Oh my oh me, oh my Lady,
Oh please say that you marry me.
But we both know that cannot be
For I am someone else’s side
And she is still my loving bride.

From first we met I longed to kiss
Your lips and hold you to my heart.
Omay, may wrath fall on my head!
I’m good as dead right at the start,
And terribly amiss to believe,
It could be any other way.

Oh me, Omay, I’d die today if I
Could get you from my mind;
If you and me could just be friends.
But that is just my heart’s pretend:
My heart will not leave pretense stand
Until it’s selfishness is put an end.

Oh My Devoted, I love you more
Than holding to this earthly stage
Where our lives would become dross,
Too much pain and deeper loss:
I will not lose heaven, and at any cost
I will not jeopardize it for you.

Omayra, may I be your devotee
Ultimately in heaven, but on earth
I cannot be just your friend.

Note: Omayra means "My Devoted One".
